At the time, the idea of mothers taking personal time or me time had still to catch on. I always say that my mother was ahead of her time; she was the one who encouraged me to spend time on me. When later on I became editor in chief of Good Housekeeping PH, this was one of my advocacies, encouraging moms to take care of themselves first.
