I am celebrating Keanu Reeves’ 57th birthday, along with a gazillion others in Twitterverse, by watching The Replacements. A sports comedy from 2000, Keanu plays quarterback Shane Falco commissioned by Coach Gene Hackman to lead a ragtag team of replacement players including Orlando Jones, Rhys Ifans, and Jon Favreau before he became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As Shane Falco, Keanu is sensitive and reluctant, but also persevering and determined, sort of a variation of the roles he played in The Matrix and John Wick but I don’t care. It’s Keanu Reeves, and he is a joy to watch.
But hey, because this blog is all about pursuing your passion and not getting old, let’s celebrate the many faces of Keanu, apart from Keanu the movie star.
KEANU THE DIRECTOR

Keanu directed Man of Tai Chi, a 2013 film featuring Tiger Chen, a stuntman in two Matrix sequels. I have not watched the movie but it is supposedly a solid directorial debut. It didn’t fare all that well in the box office though.
KEANU THE MOTORBIKE EMPRESARIO

He may have lost a body part, infamously his spleen, because of a bad spill but Keanu sure loves his motorcycle. He’s so in love with them that he started making them. ARCH Motorcycle, whom he founded alongside Gard Hollinger, makes bespoke motorcycles which fit each owner in terms of livery and ergonomics.
KEANU THE COMIC BOOK WRITER

So yes, he’s also dabbled in the comic world by co-writing a series about an immortal warrior. Goblin is that you? Mwahahahaha
Oh, Keanu is also a book publisher and he’s in a video game, and I’m sure I’ve missed a couple of his other pursuits, but The Replacements is finished, and I’m sleepy. So happy birthday, Keanu! You are eternal!
